Mobile-Friendly is no longer optional for Google

It is important to make your website Mobile-Friendly

Today (i.e. Apr 21, 2015), Google had changed their algorithm so that Mobile-Friendly websites may receive a higher ranking in mobile search result pages. In other words, websites without a Mobile-Friendly Layout may have a lower ranking in the Google's mobile search result pages. Therefore, if your website is not mobile friendly yet, you should consider upgrade it as soon as possible to avoid traffic loss. Simply speaking, a Mobile-Friendly website should meet the following standards:

  • There are different layouts for viewports with different widths
  • Text should be large enough so that people can read easily on their cell phones without zooming
  • Links and buttons should be big enough for adult fingers, and well spaced to avoid mis-tapping
  • People should not need to scroll horizontally to view all contents on their cell phones
  • The website should not contain any contents not supported by mobile devices (such as flash animations)

If you are not sure whether your website is Mobile-Friendly or not, please feel free to test it out with the testing tool listed below. Alternatively, you can contact 5U Website for help.
